The University of Osaka is building a transborder academic ecosystem across Southeast Asia. Through the UOsaka ASEAN Campus Network, we operate satellite offices and joint laboratories in 6 countries alongside 20 collaborating universities.

These physical gateways are established to:
Drive Co-Creation: Facilitate cutting-edge joint research addressing regional and global challenges.
Nurture Global Talent: Host innovative educational frameworks, including Double Degree Programs and the International Certificate Program (OUICP).
Foster Mobility: Provide dedicated spaces for seamless student, faculty, and staff exchange between Japan and our ASEAN partners.

Indonesia

We are engaged in dynamic educational and research collaboration with Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) as a key counterpart of our ASEAN Campus network. We actively implement mutual exchange initiatives, including Double Degree Programs and Osaka University International Certificate Program (OUICP), to foster highly skilled global innovators. Key Focus Areas are: Advanced Industrial Biotechnology, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Frontier Engineering Science, Computational Materials Design, and Halal Science.

Thailand

UOsaka and Mahidol University’s inter-departmental agreements focused on the Graduate School of Medicine and the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD). Active academic exchange and joint research are being conducted.

Brunei Darussalam

UOsaka works with three major universities in Brunei, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), University Tecknologi Brunei (UTB) and Universiti Islam Sultan Shaif Ali (UNISSA).

We engage in active academic exchange, especially in the area of biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, and Halal science. The ASEAN campus office is set up to facilitate collaboration in research and education.

We actively engage in joint research and personnel exchange with the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). By establishing common laboratories, we drive collaborative academic initiatives and further deepen our cooperative network. Key Focus Areas include Materials Science, Semiconductors, Photonics and Laser Technology, Energy and Environment.
